1645 homesite of Miles Cary, Sr.Marker ID: Local Title: Windmill Point Location: Denbigh Blvd. at Garrow Road, Newport News VA Description: "This plantation was homesite of Miles Cary, Sr. who came from England in 1645 at the age of 22. He was killed defending Old Point Comfort against the Dutch June 10, 1667. His grave nearby is said to be the oldest in Newport News. Father of Miles Cary, Jr. of Richneck, his descendants left an indelible mark on the development of this nation. Originally the Baynham Patent, his father-in-law, Thomas Taylor, willed the Warwick County land to Col. Cary."   BACK
